Mission Beach is very laid back, with long deserted beaches and plenty of ocean front accommodation. It is a very popular weekend getaway destination for Cairns and Townsville residents. Mission Beach is a fantastic place to stay! Pristine beaches, dolphins, great restaurants, quiet laid-back atmosphere. Mission Beach is a secluded destination, yet vibrant and exciting. Day trips to Dunk Island offer a magic experience with lots of water activities, such as diving and sailing, secluded beaches, resort pools and scenic bush walks. From here a narrow, 8km long strip of sand, stretches north to connect with Cape Sandwich and Cape Richards. This is backed on the protected western side by extensive mangrove forests. The narrow strip of land between the bay and the ocean is the northern part of Mission Beach. Pacific Beach is in the upper right quarter.
