Jones Beach, New York, North America

In 1925, Long Island State Park Commissioner Robert Moses began plans for a beach just south of the main Long Island landmass. This was Moses' first public project in a long career that would shape the New York we know and love. The park's signature landmark is a brick tower, which continues to stand today despite the many replacements and remodelings Jones Beach has undergone. Today, the beach Moses designed provides 6½ mi. of fun for New Yorkers and New York tourists alike.
